As a parent we worry about anything related to our kid's well being. Protecting our children is Mom and Dad's number one priority. Nothing is a
greater priority than protecting our teen drivers.
My almost 17 year old son has his permit. He asks us fairly regularly if he can drive. Both his mother and I are happy to oblige. We both feel the
more practice he gets the better driver he will be. I am a little more demanding with him while he is driving. His Mom is calmer and he prefers
driving with her.
Once he starts drvier's ed we will get him ready for using the car on his own. We will set some guidelines for him that we hope he will follow;
no cell phone while driving, only one friend in the car, no driving the 6 blocks to school etc.. will all be dicussed. We will probably cave in on one
or two items on the list but not all. We know his safety and that of others is first and foremost. He being a little embarrassed in front of his
friends is more important than him not following the rules. Not to mention keeping our car insurance rates as low as possible.
What are you doing or what have you done to help your new teen driver?Let us know.
In the meantime see a copy of the "Teen Driving Agreement".
